Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu today met Japanese Prime Minister Shinjo Abe in Tokyo and invited him to participate in the foundation-laying ceremony for the proposed new capital city of the state.
Betting big on Japanese investments in various sectors, including the development of the proposed capital city, the Andhra Pradesh government had signed a number of MoUs with companies and government agencies from Japan.
The state government also promised to create a separate industrial township for Japanese companies on the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor, which is being taken up with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
During his meeting, Naidu told Shinjo Abe that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi would also write to him inviting for the ceremony, according to the chief minister’s office. The state government has proposed to lay the foundation stone for the new capital city on October 22.
The Japanese Prime Minister assured his country would extend all technical and possible financial assistance to AP for infrastructure and building capital, it said.
CM Naidu is on a five-day visit to Japan beginning July 5 and it is second visit to that country in less than three months.
